Hi,
I am working on this dance
Question
What does extended 5th mean?

Alleebee November 30, 2022
@hyang - here is an explanation for fifth position in ballet -

In classical ballet, fifth position is most simply defined as standing with the feet turned out, so the front foot’s heel touches the back foot’s toe. But depending on the style and teacher’s preference, there could be slight variations.

So, for the benefit of certain moves in line dance we use the term extended fifth meaning you have one foot slightly more forward of the balancing foot (right or left) with toes turned out on the forward foot to allow you to move into the next step with ease and to allow you to know which way to turn.

Hope that helps. Alison
