Meet Chris Brocklesby, an early UK social personality, choreographer, and former World/European Linedance Champion. With a career spanning several decades, Chris has had the privilege of working alongside fellow dancers such as Rob Fowler, Pedro Machado, and Darren Bailey (fellow Welsh man).
Having discovered the joy of line dancing in the early 90s as a child, Chris's passion for this energetic art form only grew over time. As his dance journey progressed, he transitioned into choreography, conducting regular classes, and participating in competitions, ultimately achieving the title of World Champion alongside numerous other titles from his travels around the globe.
In the early 2000s, Chris made a significant impact by establishing a dance team called "Dawnsio" (Welsh for Dance). Through their captivating performances, they successfully raised funds for numerous charitable causes. One notable highlight was their memorable appearance on the prestigious stage of London's Royal Palladium, where they showcased their talent alongside a diverse array of dance styles and shared the spotlight with acclaimed dancers like Michael Flatley, Wayne Sleep, Torvill, and Dean.
During that same year, Chris had an exciting opportunity to promote line dancing to a wider audience. He made a memorable appearance on the national lottery show alongside esteemed personalities Lionel Blair and Bradley Walsh. Together, they enthusiastically introduced line dancing to the public, bringing its infectious rhythm and spirit to a broader audience.
In 2003, Chris paused his dance pursuits to embark on a different adventure—starting a family and pursuing a career in technology. Later relocating from Wales in the UK to the beautiful South Island of New Zealand further enriched his life's path.
Recently, Chris has rekindled his passion for dancing and choreography, finding immense joy in the vibrant line dance community of New Zealand. Regularly touring across both islands, he continues to enjoy being part of the dance and country music scene.
Chris Brocklesby has choreographed 23 dances, of which none have been co-choreographed. Their first published stepsheet on CopperKnob is The Last Dance from October 2007, with their most recent stepsheet of Closest to Heaven in Feburary 2025.
