This is a great dance but I'd describe the second rocking chairs as 'mambo steps' to differentiate from the rocking chairs? I'm teaching my class that a rocking chair has four components - rock forward, recover, rock back, recover.

Thank you for the comment, Helen. I guess you could count a syncopated rocking chair and a mambo step, but I try and keep my step sheets as simple as possible. My students understand a rocking chair and it is easier for them to remember rocking chairs than calling 2 different steps in a syncopated 8& count. All of my dancers are over 60 years old and some of them are in their 90's, and they have trouble remembering so many different steps in 8 counts, but if I say right and left syncopated rocking chairs and step on counts 4 & 8, they get that. I absolutely do not mind instructors changing the steps of the dances that I choreograph. I'm not trying to be famous! Just trying to help my dancers have fun in their latter years, and get some exercise. So happy that you like the dance, and thank you again for the comment.
