Several times a month this volunteer group performs in nursing homes, rehabilitation & assisted living facilities, as well as senior residences. Five different themes are offered throughout the year: Western, Broadway, Black-and-White, Spanish, and Christmas.
Recently, Sonja has enthusiastically embraced line dance choreography. As well, she also provides line dance instruction at a senior residence and serves as a substitute at a local senior activity center.
Born on Staten Island, New York, she has lived in many states in the US, Toronto Canada and Moscow Russia.
Sonja currently resides in Austin, Texas, the gateway to the picturesque hill country of Texas, with her husband, Paul, and her dog, Pumpkin.
Sonja Hemmes has choreographed 209 dances, of which none have been co-choreographed. Their first published stepsheet on CopperKnob is Boot Scootin' Boogie from August 2015, with their most recent stepsheet of Country Roads in November 2024.
