Uploading your dance demo or tutorial video to YouTube is a simple process, but there are some key steps to ensure that your content is shared smoothly and effectively. Whether you’re a beginner or have uploaded videos before, this guide will walk you through the steps and give you tips on optimizing your video for the best possible reach.

Step 1: Sign in to Your YouTube Account
Before uploading, make sure you’re signed in to your YouTube account. If you don’t have a Google account, you’ll need to create one in order to access YouTube’s features. Here’s how:

1. Open YouTube in your web browser.
2. Click on the Sign In button located at the top-right corner of the page.
3. Enter your Google account credentials (email and password) to log in.

Step 2: Click the Upload Icon

Once you’re logged into your YouTube account, follow these steps to start the uploading process:

1. On the top-right corner of the screen, click on the create button with a plus sign (this is the upload button).
2. A dropdown menu will appear. Select Upload video.

Step 3: Select the Video File to Upload

1. After you click Upload video you’ll be directed to the YouTube Studio upload page.
2. Click on the Select Files button or simply drag and drop your video file into the space provided.
3. Locate the video file on your computer that you want to upload. You can upload videos in various formats such as MP4, MOV, AVI, and more.
4. Once the file is selected, it will begin uploading automatically.

Step 4: Add Video Details

While your video is uploading, you can add important information that will make your video easier to find and more engaging for viewers. This includes:

Title
- Choose a clear, descriptive title that accurately represents the content of your video.
- Be sure that this includes the stepsheet title and also if the video is a demo or tutorial.
- Keep it concise, ideally under 100 characters, so it’s easily readable on mobile devices.

Description
- Add a detailed description of the video’s content.
- Its always best to include the dance details here such as the choreographers name, count, level, walls and what music was used in the video. (This also helps us add the video more quickly as we can easily match the video to the correct dance stepsheet)
- You can also include links to copperknob to help viewers refer back to the dance stepsheet.

Thumbnail
- YouTube will automatically generate a few thumbnail options for your video, but you can upload your own custom thumbnail for better branding. Thumbnails that are clear, high-quality, and represent the video well typically attract more clicks.

Step 5: Choose Video Privacy Settings

Next, you’ll need to decide who can see your video. YouTube offers three options:

Public – Anyone can view the video, and it will appear in YouTube search results. This is the best choice if you wish to submit your video to CopperKnob.
Unlisted – Only people with the link can view the video (it won’t show up in search results).
Private – Only you and people you invite can view the video. Do not select this if you wish to submit to CopperKnob.

Step 6: Publish Your Video

Once you’ve filled out the necessary information, and the video finishes uploading, click the Save button. Here you will see your video link. This is the URL you'll use to share your video, so be sure to copy it.

Step 7: Share and Promote Your Video

Once your video is live, it’s time to share it! Share the link on CopperKnob by
submitting the video to a stepsheet. You can also share on social media platforms, websites, or blogs to increase visibility.

Tips for a Successful YouTube linedance video

Quality is key
- Ensure your video is high quality in both visuals and audio. A well-edited, clean video will attract more views.

Good Lighting
- Use as much natural light as possible. If filming indoors, position yourself near windows for a soft, flattering light. Don’t film with bright lights directly behind you, as this will create silhouettes and make it hard for viewers to see your movements.

Clear Sound Quality
- Use an external microphone (like a lapel or shotgun mic) to ensure clear audio for any instructions or music. Make sure your music is loud enough to be heard clearly but not overwhelming. Adjust volume levels to ensure the sound balance between instructions and background music.

Camera Positioning
- Position your camera at a distance where you can clearly be seen from head to toe, especially during the dance steps. A wide-angle lens or a decent zoom lens can help. Use a tripod or stabilizer to avoid shaky footage.

Clear and Visible Dance Floor
- Ensure the space around you is tidy and free of distractions. A clean, well-lit dance floor keeps the focus on your movements. Choose a background that contrasts with your clothing so that you're easily visible. Avoid busy patterns or bright colors that might distract from the dance.

Uploading a video to YouTube is easy once you know the steps. By following this guide, you can ensure your videos are set up ready to add to a CopperKnob stepsheet.
